The Phillips Family
Kaylie, Hudson, and Landon are all Riley kids and receive ongoing treatment at Riley Hospital.
Kaylie and Hudson both have Tethered Cord Syndrome and had spinal cord surgery to correct the neural tube defect. Four years ago Hudson had a sacral nerve neurostimulator implanted called an Interstim implant to relieve some of his symptoms. At the time of his procedure, Riley hospital was one of only two hospitals in the nation able to perform the procedure on children. Hudson has had many procedures and surgeries at Riley and will undergo another surgery in two weeks to replace his Interstim implant. Hudson also sees a geneticist and orthopedic for a connective tissue disorder called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Landon was the first of the three to become a Riley kid when he was diagnosed with Chiari Malformation at the age of 4. He sees a neurologist regularly for pain management and was recently diagnosed with cavernous malformations. In 2020, Landon had surgery to create openings in a large fluid filled cyst in the center of his brain to relieve pressure. All three kids are doing well and Hudson has raised thousands of dollars for Riley Hospital through PUDM!
