My’King Watkins
“On May 13th our lives changed over night, and what we thought was the stomach flu turned out to be Stage 3 ependymoma cancer in the form of a tumor that had rapidly attached itself to nerves and cells connected to his cerebral cortex. He had fluid buildup on the brain due to blockage. On May 13th, he went into surgery to put a tube in through his brain to drain the fluids before having major brain surgery on May 17th. After brain surgery, My’King lost all his major motor functions. He went from a happy, healthy child who loved basketball and video games to almost a vegetable over night. However, he fights more and more every day to be here. My’King has a very long road to recovery. My’King is my only living son. In the past 4 years, I buried my two other sons; one at birth and the other from pneumonia.” -Jennifer Watkins
