Corporate Matching

Many companies offer an employee giving campaign, allowing for employees to give back to their favorite philanthropic charities and organizations. By making a donation to Riley Children's Foundation through Purdue University Dance Marathon, you may have the ability to double or triple your impact through your respective employer.

Each corporation has a different policy about matching gifts. To determine if your company participates in a corporate gifts incentive, please refer to this link.

How Do I Get My Gift Matched?

Step 1

Donors should be directed to their Human Resource Department at their place of business. Most often HR will direct them to either an online page set up by their company, or with smaller companies they may be given a paper form to complete. When they are submitting a match with their company, they should be requesting James Whitcomb Riley Memorial Association or Riley Children’s Foundation as the organization/ charity of choice to receive that matching gift.

Step 2

Once the donor has requested a match, Gift Processing will typically receive an email from the company requesting us to confirm receipt of donor’s original gift. Gift Processing will review Convio system for a match. If the gift is not in the system, we will contact Dance Marathon Gift Officers to confirm the match, as it is likely a gift that has gone directly to DM to be in their big check upon conclusion of the dance. Gift Officers should inquire with Dance Marathon Committee member and request email of confirmation that they received the gift. GP will review the gift for match up to 60 days after the original gift date; at that point, if there is no confirmation of the gift, GP will decline the match. There will be additional review of match requests of $500.00 and above to insure that we have done all that we can to get these matches.

Step 3

To ensure that the dancer received credit for this matching gift in a timely manner, it is very important that the donor request James Whitcomb Riley Memorial Association or Riley Children’s Foundation as the organization to receive that matching gift. Donors should also remember to include a note in their matching request listing “PUDM” along with the name of the dancer who should receive credit.

Step 4

All gifts of $250.00 or more should come directly to Riley Children’s Foundation. This will help ensure matches at this level are completed, credited successfully, and they will receive the required IRS tax receipt.
